Recently the Ford Plantation Equestrian center was a hive of a different sort of activity. The arena was completely revamped in an exercise which included the removal of the entire arena surface and sub surface. More modern footing mediums where then used to rebuild the arena to modern world classs equestrian arena standards, simultaneously drainage and irrigation were upgraded.
The arena is now ready for the winter season and no doubts the riders and horses will be delighted with the upgrade and we look forward to seeing the dressage, jumping, trail riding and training at the new arena at The Ford Plantation Barn this season.

Mark,
This is looks like a fabulous facility and the new footing in the arena I am sure is a big hit with the horses.
Best wishes
Sharon
Thanks Sharon, we are expecting up to 30 horses in our plantation herd this winter so I am glad the arena is in top shape again.
That really looks like an incredible facility, Mark. Is that crushed limestone that they are spreading around for the surface?
Sharon it is a specific grade of white sand (size and distribution of size of individual sand grains) that could be comparable to maybe riding on a beach. It is great under foot for the horses (helps ensure that they don't trip or go lame), but is also has great properties as far as ease and ability of maintenance and drainage. This surface is very similar to what they used for the Beijing Olympic riding arenas and some prominent Kentucky Club arenas.
